Spotlight on Societies: Scouts On Stamps Society International (SOSSI)
Scouts On Stamps Society International (SOSSI) is a nonprofit philatelic organization specializing in the collecting, study, and enjoyment of stamps and other postal items celebrating the Boy Scout and Girl Scout/Guide movements. SOSSI just celebrated their 70th year of operation in 2021, and the Maple Leaf Chapter in Canada is celebrating our 60th Anniversary this year.
SOSSI has been hosted by their Canadian friends a number of times in Canada. We had a large Booth throughout the CAPEX’96 show in Toronto in 1996, at the PIPEX show in 2002 in Vancouver and at the Royal2015Royale show in London, Ontario in 2015.
A SOSSI Dinner is planned for Thursday night to renew old friendships and make new ones. SOSSI will have a Society table at CAPEX’22 and will participate in a number of activities. An AGM (Annual General Meeting) is planned for Saturday afternoon. Special covers will be available along with special Picture Postage stamps honoring SOSSI’s attendance at CAPEX’22. Stay tuned for additional activities to be announced. All of SOSSI’s activities are open to the general public. Drop by the SOSSI Society table and meet some active fellow philatelists!
