Spotlight on Societies: The Royal Philatelic Society London

Print

Established in 1869 The Royal Philatelic Society London is the home of worldwide philatelic excellence, expertise and friendship. Our interest is worldwide and our membership covers the globe.

For more than 150 years the Royal, as the Society is universally known, has led the way in bringing together like-minded folk who collect Stamps, Postal History, other philatelic material, and many side lines like the history of collecting and ancestry.

We are in London in a wonderful building that is a stone’s throw from the original London Letter Office established in 1653, and we welcome visitors.

The principal objects of the Society are:

To promote, encourage and contribute to the advancement of the science and practice of philately.

To inform members of the Society on all matters affecting any of its objects by meetings, discussions, displays, lectures, correspondence or otherwise; to assist and carry out philatelic research, and to print, publish and issue such papers, periodicals, books, circulars or other literary matters in support of these objects.

To establish and maintain a library and collections of stamps, designs, proofs, essays and other articles of interest relating to any of the objects of the Society.

With an extensive membership in North America, we look forward to taking part in CAPEX 22 with an exciting lineup of 4 lectures. Details can be found in the seminars schedule on this website.
